[HF] Hidden Cubic Mechanics

What is a Cubic

A Cubic is a summoned magical object that:

  • triggers automatically in combat;

  • requires no manual control;

  • affects either enemies (debuffs/damage) or the owner (healing/buffs).

A Cubic is neither a summon (pet/servitor) nor a skill with a constant proc rate; it is a distinct system with rigid rules.

How Cubics Work

General Principles

  • Healing Cubics have a specific trigger condition: the lower the HP, the higher the activation chance.

  • All Cubics have a proc chance and a cooldown—parameters that vary for each type.

  • The Cubic essentially "checks" the target (you or the enemy) for condition fulfillment, after which it enters a cooldown period, averaging 15 seconds.

  • In simpler terms, a Cubic cannot trigger more often than approximately once every 15 seconds, even if the proc chance is 100%.

Trigger Limits

Every Cubic has a trigger limit.

  • For example, a Vampiric Cubic has a limit of 15 triggers, after which it ceases to function.

  • Therefore, it is practical to recast Cubics frequently, especially:

    • when passing by a Newbie Guide/Buffer;

    • before every Olympiad match.

Conditions for Negative Cubics

Negative Cubics (Hex, Lightning, etc.) only trigger on targets that have between 33% and 80% HP.

Versions and Patches

Cubics have remained unchanged since their introduction to the game.

  • On PTS High Five, they are completely identical to the Cubics on PTS C1.

  • This is likely why their duration is shorter than the standard 20-minute buff duration.

Additional Features

Cubics have their own parameters and fixed heal/damage values. Cubic effectiveness cannot be influenced:

  • Attack speed,

  • Dual swords,

  • Daggers,

  • Any "life hacks" ...do not increase the proc chance. The only mandatory condition is that you must be in combat.

Phantom Cubic

The Phantom Cubic's debuffs:

  • do not scale with leveling,

  • do not depend on the target's level,

  • ignore resistances.

In fact, it is one of the strongest Cubics in the game against bosses:

  • −23% P. Atk.

  • −23% P. Def.

  • −23% Atk. Spd. 👉 Such a debuff is an extremely powerful effect.

A Bit of Useless Information:

The word "Cubic" is translated into Russian as "кубический" (cubic/cubical). Locally, players simply call them "kubiki" (little cubes), which, frankly, doesn't quite capture their essence. Moreover, in-game, not all Cubics actually have a cubic shape, making the name even more arbitrary.

Formally, they do not have their own names because these entities exist, in a sense, outside of our reality: one cannot give a proper name to something that theoretically doesn't exist. All we are capable of, within the limits of human language, is to somehow describe the object, hoping the listener understands what we mean.

Theoretically, it would be more accurate to translate "Cubic" as "Cubic Entity," but that sounds as if you've just summoned something from a forbidden tome of magic rather than casting a skill in Lineage 2. Thus, "Cubic" is the compromise we have lived with for many years.
